Frestimate Training Course

This course is for registered licensed Frestimate users or for persons who are evaluating Frestimate.  The course fee does not include a Frestimate license.  A temporary license is provided for the class duration.

Day 1 - The Standard Edition

Course overview and introduction - Become familiar with the help files, tutorials, users manual. 15 minutes
How to set up a prediction project - This covers all of the "File" functions 15 minutes
Installing Frestimate 15 minutes
Predictions  
How to set up the prediction general inputs - This covers each of the input fields on this page including the MTTF objectives, MTSWR, growth period, size 1 hour
Break

How to use the SEI CMM model the Industry model 15 minutes
Understanding the results - Defect density, predicted defects, MTTF and MTBI at end of testing, start of testing, fully operational, at next release and average values. 

1 hour

 

Break 15 minutes
How to use the Shortcut model - Input data, import, export, review results, determine confidence 1 hours
Understanding the results - Availability, Reliability, All of these values filtered for catastrophic defect types.  

30 minutes

 

Lunch Break 1 hour
How to use the Full-scale model -Input data, import, export, review results, determine confidence 2 hours breaks
How to create components - This is useful when there are multiple organizations developing software 15 minutes

 

 

How to generate trends - These trends are usually the reason why people do predictions.  How much testing do we need to reach our objective?  How many people will be needed to support the software? Other trends too. 30 minutes

Other trends too. These trends use actual observed failures while the prediction trends are performed prior to testing without any failure data. 1 hour
